Rui Dias Rui Dias - Mastering Engineer

My music career started at the age of 15 in Tomar, a small town in the center of Portugal, where I was born in August 1967. After times of searching and discovery around various musical instruments, I chose the guitar as my buddy along my way. I attended the “Hot Clube de Jazz” school in Lisbon for 3 years, having as teachers some of the best Portuguese musicians and instrumentalists, sharing classes with colleagues who have become today’s top musicians. At the age of 20, along with a couple of friends, I founded the band "Quinta do Bill" that I would abandon 4 years later, transferring myself almost immediately to the rock band "UHF", where I stayed until 1994. Meanwhile, the technical side of music production has always been part of my interests and in 1989 I joined the engineering staff of "Tchatchatcha Studios” in Lisbon. During the 20 years that I stayed there, I worked with practically all the musicians and artists of the Portuguese music scene at the time, and some international ones too. Over time and while getting more and greater technical knowledge and experience, the technical aspect of the sound begins to play a major role in my life and my old guitar started to be left behind. I started as an assistant in several studio sessions but quickly I took over many recording and mixing sessions, at a time when Mastering in Portugal was practically nonexistent. The entire recording and mixing process was completely analog, and had the purpose to cut lacquer used for duplicating vinyl records. The digital age of CDs was still yet to come. My specialization in the final step of the records production chain, began to showout in the late 90's. Mastering naturally begins to be my art. The last years engineering at "Tchatchatcha Studios" were practically dedicated to Mastering, and apart from Mastering the mixes that were made there, I started to be requested by external clients. Since 2010, I embraced my own project and created the "Estúdio Mister Master®". The need to create a perfect acoustic space with excellent equipment was now imperative. Until today, the studio is fully working on a daily basis and during this time I've held hundreds of Masters of established artists or beginners, independent or not, preparing all projects for streaming platforms, as for vinyl or CD. Over the years, I've collected some Silver, Gold and Platinum awards, continuing to provide my clients with all my creativity, experience and knowledge, raising their projects to the highest level.
